Standard sizes

Standard bodice charts, ready to trace.

These bodice charts are drafted across a clear range of standard sizes - a reliable starting point for anyone who prefers to work from a known size and make their own refinements. No measurements required to begin; locate your size, trace, and cut.

Each chart is graded with consistent ease allowances and clear grainline markings. Where bespoke drafting is fitted from the first line drawn, these charts give you a well-proportioned foundation to adapt. All five are currently in development and will be released as a set.

Bodice Chart, Sizes 18 to 28

In development

The standard graded bodice for sizes 18 through 28, drafted with the same care and consistency as the smaller range - properly graded, not scaled up.

  • Graded across six sizes with proportionate ease adjustments
  • Drafted specifically for this size range, not extrapolated
  • Front and back pieces with clear notch and grainline markings
  • Pairs with the petite and tall variations for further refinement

Petite Bodice Chart

In development

The standard bodice adjusted for shorter back lengths and petite proportions - the same size range, redrawn rather than simply shortened.

  • Shortened back length and adjusted armscye depth
  • Shoulder and dart placement scaled to petite proportions
  • Available across the standard size range
  • Reduces the back-length adjustment most petite sewers make by hand

Tall Bodice Chart

In development

The standard bodice redrawn for longer torso proportions - extended back length and adjusted vertical spacing so the fit lines land where they should.

  • Lengthened back and front bodice with proportionate vertical adjustments
  • Armscye and waist placement raised to suit longer torsos
  • Available across the standard size range
  • Eliminates the lengthening step for those who routinely add to a standard pattern
About standard-size drafting

Standard bodice charts are drafted to industry size specifications, which means the fit is predictable - a useful quality when you are learning a pattern or working quickly. They are not made-to-measure, and most sewers will make at least minor adjustments to the shoulder, waist, or back length before cutting into fashion fabric. That is not a flaw in the chart; it is how standard sizing works.

If your measurements fall consistently between sizes, or if you prefer a pattern drafted from your own measurements from the outset, the bespoke bodice block - fitted entirely to your figures - may be the better starting point. The two approaches suit different working styles, and both have a place in a well-stocked pattern library.
